A politician turned actor and MN (MNM) MNM president Kamal Haasan on Saturday joined the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in New Delhi.
Haasan who was speaking in The Red Fort, said, “Many people have asked me about my reason for being here. It’s because I’m an Indian. My father was an elected Congressman. I’ve had different views and even started my own political group, but in the context of the nation every party line has to be blurred. I blurred that line , and I came to this country.”
Haasan was joined by MNM members and were asked to join the march by the chief of the party via a message on video Friday. The message stated that the march was for the entire nation and goes far beyond the realm of party lines.
The earlier this year, the MNM director stated that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi addressed him and invited him to participate in the Bharat Jodo Yatra , not as a the leader of a political group, but as an individual citizen.
Haasan’s decision to Haasan to sign up to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has suggested that the DMK-led ruling alliance of Tamil Nadu, which has the Congress as one of its key constituents and is expected to soon have an ally who is new.
